What Should You Do If There Is A Problem
Sometimes things happen and we get it. If your retainer is poking you or feels like it doesn't fit right anymore, just give us a call. We are always here to help with emergency care. If a bonded retainer comes loose, try to wear your backup clear retainer full time until you can see us. The most important thing is to let us know right away so your teeth don't start to shift. We’ve thought of everything so you can focus on showing off that new smile.
How You Should Care for Your Retainer
Taking care of your removable retainer is simple, and we’ve thought of everything to make it part of your routine. From your very first office visit to the day you finish care, we want you to feel supported.
- Keep it in the case. If it’s not in your mouth, it should be in its case. This keeps it safe from being lost or becoming a snack for a curious pet.
- Clean it daily. Use a toothbrush and some mild soap with warm water. This keeps it fresh and clear of plaque. You can learn more about this in our brushing and flossing guide.
- Watch out for heat. Hot water or leaving it in a hot car can warp the shape. We want to make sure it always fits you perfectly.
- Practice makes perfect. If it feels a little funny to talk at first, don't worry. It’s totally normal. Try reading out loud or singing your favorite song to get used to it faster.
